IT security as linchpin of the entire information society: security convention in Bonn, Germany
In his opening remarks for the eleventh German IT security convention in Bonn-Bad Godesberg, Federal Secretary of the Interior Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble focused on the topic "Avoiding a Crisis in Confidence for the IT Business". Security and availability of the World Wide Web is the linchpin of our entire global information society, the politician said. Schäuble warned: "Every form of IT crisis could lead to an enormous economical damage and question people's trust in the Internet“. Germany's IT industry could make a valuable contribution to meeting this challenge with its know-how in IT security, the Federal Secretary pointed out.
