The License Plate Scandal: How Strangers Can Spy Out Privat Lifes Through Call Centers
The German TV channel SAT.1 is famous for its investigative show „Akte 09“ (file 09). The magazine has just revealed how easy it is to obtain customer data from call centers via phone. The reporters noted down license plate numbers and called five car insurance companies in a row. By starting an argument, the smart reporters made all five call center agents read out the complete adresses of their clients, as if to „compare data“.
